Snugit

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-10-07

Snugit is run by Wispr Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Snugit app and snugit.io, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].

[TO CONFIRM: Wispr Inc.’s postal address and state of incorporation, for the contact section.]

The short version

  • Feedback goes to the business you write to. Switch on “Make yourself anonymous” and the business sees your words, never your name.
  • We do not sell your data and there are no ads in Snugit.
  • Some features use AI. The text they work on is sent to DeepSeek, whose servers are in China.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address, and the first and last name you give us. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive the name and email that service shares with us; with Sign in with Apple you can hide your email behind a relay address. If you sign in with a code, we email a six-digit code to the address you type. Business owners can also add a contact email to attach to their replies. You can look around Snugit without an account; we then keep a temporary guest sign-in for your phone.

What you write. The feedback you send, the business it is for, when you sent it, and the extras you choose: the date of your visit, your email for the business to contact you, and whether to delay delivery. Owners and their teams: your replies, coupons, notes and settings, the instructions you give the AI, your conversations with the AI consultant, and messages you send us.

Voice. If you tap the microphone, your recording is sent to our server and on to Deepgram to turn it into text. We do not keep the recording; we keep only the text you choose to send.

Business claims. To claim a business you upload a photo of your business license. Our staff look at it to approve or turn down the claim.

Location. If you allow it, your phone’s location is used to show businesses near you and to sort search results by distance. It is sent with your search and may be passed to Google to find nearby places. We do not keep a history of where you have been. You can turn location off in your phone’s settings and still search by name or area.

Searches and recent businesses. The words you searched for and the businesses you opened, so the app can show them again.

Subscriptions. If you buy Snugit+, Apple or Google handles the payment. We never see your card. RevenueCat tells us which plan you have, when you bought it and when it ends.

Notifications. A push token for your phone, so we can send you notifications, and your notification choices.

Usage and crashes. How the app is used (for example which screens are opened and which buttons are tapped), sent to Amplitude under a random analytics ID, not your name or email. Crash reports, with your device model and app version, sent to Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry, with how long screens take to load.

Reports. If you report a business or a patron, what you wrote and who it is about. You can report a business without an account.

How anonymity works

  • With “Make yourself anonymous” off, the business sees your first name and the first letter of your last name next to your feedback.
  • With it on, the business sees “Patron” and a short code instead. The code is the same each time you write to that business, so it can tell your messages come from the same person without learning who you are. Each business sees a different code for you.
  • With “Delay delivery 1–3 days” on, we hold your feedback for a random 24 to 72 hours, so its timing does not point back to your visit. Until then only you can see it.
  • If a business asks to contact you, we ask you first. Your email is shared only if you agree, or if you attached it yourself.
  • Snugit staff can see who sent each piece of feedback, including anonymous feedback, so we can run the service, handle reports and stop abuse. We never tell a business who sent anonymous feedback, unless the law requires it. [TO CONFIRM: whether to keep the “unless the law requires it” exception.]

How we use your data

  • To run Snugit: deliver feedback, show replies and coupons, sign you in, send the notifications and emails you have chosen, and process subscriptions.
  • To review business claims and reports, and to keep Snugit safe: spotting abuse, fake feedback and misuse, and deactivating accounts that break the rules.
  • For AI features (below).
  • To understand how the app is used and fix problems.
  • To meet legal obligations.

AI features

Snugit uses AI to rewrite feedback when you tap “Make it nice”, turn speech into text, write and check owners’ replies, sort feedback into Insights, answer owners’ questions in the AI consultant, answer questions in the in-app guide, and help our staff handle reports.

For these, we send the text the feature needs: for example the feedback and the replies, the business’s name and details, and the owner’s instructions. When our staff use AI help on a report, it can also see the email addresses of the people the report involves.

The AI service we use is DeepSeek, run by a company in China. Text sent to it is processed and may be stored on servers in the People’s Republic of China. DeepSeek’s own privacy policy applies to that processing. [TO CONFIRM: whether DeepSeek’s API terms let it keep or train on what we send, and for how long.]

Who we share it with

  • The businesses you write to: your feedback, and your name, visit date or email only when you choose to share them, as described above.
  • Service providers that run parts of Snugit for us, only for that purpose:
    • Amazon Web Services (USA): hosting our servers and database, and sending email.
    • Google Firebase (USA): sign-in, push notifications, storage of uploaded photos such as business licenses, crash reports and error logs.
    • MongoDB Atlas (USA): the directory of businesses we search.
    • Google Places (USA): business names, addresses, photos and nearby search.
    • Mapbox (USA): the maps in the app. Your phone loads map images from Mapbox.
    • DeepSeek (China): the AI features.
    • Deepgram (USA): turning voice into text.
    • RevenueCat (USA): subscription status.
    • Amplitude (USA): app usage analytics.
    • Sentry (USA): crash reports and app performance.
    • Apple, Google and Facebook: if you sign in with them, and Apple and Google for payments.
    • Slack (USA): alerts to our team when something goes wrong. [TO CONFIRM: whether error alerts can contain personal data.]
  • When the law requires it, or to protect people’s safety, our rights, or the rights of others.
  • If Snugit changes hands, for example in a merger or sale, your data moves with the service and this policy still applies.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Your account data stays while you have an account.
  • When you delete your account, we delete your account, your sign-in, your notifications, the replies you wrote, your coupons, the reports you made, your messages to us, your push tokens, your recent searches and your team roles, and we release any business you own.
  • Feedback you sent stays with the businesses you sent it to, without your name or account: it shows as from a deleted account, and what you sent anonymously stays apart from what had your name on it. We keep a record that an account was deleted, with no name or email, and the reason you gave, if any.
  • Business claims, including the license photo, are kept after a claim is decided, to check ownership disputes and fraud. [TO CONFIRM: how long claims and license photos are kept, and whether they are removed when an account is deleted. Today the app does not remove them.]
  • Read notifications are removed after 90 days.
  • Backups and logs keep copies for a limited time. [TO CONFIRM: backup and log retention period.]

Your choices and rights

  • Change your name and email in Settings → Update account details.
  • Choose which notifications and emails you get in Settings, or turn notifications off in your phone’s settings. Every email we send says why you got it.
  • Turn off location, microphone or photo access in your phone’s settings at any time.
  • Delete your account in Settings → Delete account.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, at [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have further rights under the law, and we will not treat you differently for using them. [TO CONFIRM: the California (CCPA/CPRA) section and any other state-law wording.]

Children

Snugit is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, tell us and we will delete it. [TO CONFIRM: the minimum age (13, or 18 to match the Terms) and whether the app needs an age prompt.]

Where your data is processed

Snugit is a service for the United States. Our servers are in the United States, and AI text is processed in China, as described above. If you use Snugit from elsewhere, your data is processed in those countries.

Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections, access limited to the staff who need it, and sign-in codes stored only as one-way hashes. No service is perfectly secure; if you think your account has been misused, tell us at once.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
